I know, as this lands in your inbox today, how many of you will be deeply worried, upset and fearful of the news that what's been decreed as a "cruel" attempt to segregate Trans+ people all over the UK is now with parliament to implement.
Between that, the news of Graham Lineham appearing in court for harassment, having been arrested under suspicion of inciting anti-Trans hate, and subsequent comments from the UK's most important Police Chief and the Health Secretary, we could have written this week's newsletter with any number of top stories.
We're instead publishing two critical pieces to cut through that noise and deliver you the information you deserve. Articles that provide critical information and insight into the impact of all of this anti-trans policy-making. Stories that deliver accessible explanations, alongside the devastating real-world effects this is all having.
They remind us of the rights we do have enshrined in law. Of the values as a society, we've all agreed should be universal.
In our exclusive investigation, Evie Ashton has spoken to Trans+ athletes who have been forced to out themselves because of the decisions taken by the Football Association and English Cricket Board. Evie has spent the last two months researching this story, speaking to experts and producing an easy-read guide so you can understand why it matters.
Meanwhile, regular contributor William Elisabeth Cuthbert writes about a critical case of a trans man being denied a gender recognition certificate because they want to be a parent. Will exposes the hypocrisy of the decision, with a holistic view on the beauty of parenting and building safe, secure and happy families - whatever your background.
And then yes, we also have digestible editions of the news, great recs for content you can get lost in, and a cute reel that screams defiance in the spotlight.
If you're a long-term reader of QueerAF, it might go without saying, but even though you can read all of this week's newsletter in 10 minutes with a coffee in bed, it represents countless hours of hard, dedicated work.
The new landscape since the Supreme Court ruling has seen a raft of new legal challenges, political fights, and propaganda that needs to be challenged - loud, proud and with critical fact-checking.
We can only win this fight if we all get the information we need to cut through the noise. We need to use nuanced, detailed analysis as the base for our activism.
That's what QueerAF does best. That's why thousands of you read this newsletter every week. That's why we need you to upgrade today.
Our small but mighty newsletter punches above our weight, but we need you to upgrade to become a paying member so we can accelerate the work we do - and get it in front of as many eyeballs as possible.
The UK is at a critical juncture, and we need your support - so we can help the LGBTQIA+ community navigate through it.
All we're asking for is the price of a coffee a month. If you value the work we do, please take action, and help us fight back against the hate.
We are Queer As Fuck. And so are you.
Thank you,
Jamie Wareham

💬 This week:
- Sports: Our latest investigation takes the FA and ECB to task, as we ask them have their actions breached the human rights of it’s athletes? Evie Ashton explores
- EHRC: A rushed consultation, the use of AI, and evidence of ideologically driven motives - but now headed to Parliament for approval, the code that will segregate Trans+ people in the UK
- Parent denied GRC: Overreach from the Supreme Court decision has hit many areas of the UK, including legal recognition. This week in the Queer Gaze, we explore fatherhood as a Trans man is refused a GRC for wanting to give birth.
Skip the doomscrolling and support queer creatives instead. We are QueerAF – and so are you.

“I had to out myself” – are sports bodies violating Trans+ people’s right to privacy?
TL;DR: Trans+ athletes are being forced to out themselves because of organisation's possible overreached responses to the Supreme Court ruling on the defintion of a woman under the Equality Act. QueerAF speaks to experts and victims of Trans+ sports bans, about how this might be a breach of their right to privacy which could see legal challenges.
