QueerAF Podcast: Season 4, Episode 7 – Growing up in the ’90s, Martin Joseph was taught that happiness meant finding “the one.” But now, in his thirties and with no desire for marriage or a partner, he asks: can you still be single, happy, and #QueerAF? – listen now
In this episode:
You might remember Martin Joseph from our first episode of Season 3, I’m a gay dancer, but I’m not happy with my body. In this episode, Martin explores why the traditional milestones of love and commitment never felt quite right. He reflects on growing up with a script that never matched his reality - where happiness was defined by romance and partnership, not self-acceptance and independence.
Now 32 and content but questioning, Martin sets out to discover what it truly means to be single, queer, and fulfilled. Is it okay to keep dating when you don’t see it progressing past the “boyfriend stage”? Speaking to friends in similar positions, he’s on a mission to find out why being single doesn’t have to mean being alone.
Featuring:
- Martin Joseph – Reporter and co host of The Real Brunch
- Char Bailey – That’s Life coach, writer, speaker and well-being ambassador for UK Black Pride
- James Barr – co host of the podcast A Gay and a Non Gay
