We hear a lot about how you wish the news could help you fight back better.
That's why we've been doubling down on our investigative journalism. The more information you have, the more you can use it to advocate for change. This week, we're leading with an insight into how Parliament can stop the code of practice that is set to segregate Trans+ people from most single sex spaces and services up and down the country.
But in the last few months alone we've seen:
- Our collaborative investigation on NHS gender clinic waiting times read word for word in Parliament, featured in political party manifestos calling for change, and even put directly to the PM.
- Our investigation into Trans+ young people's suicides, that was used in reports warning of the danger of 'Section 28 2.0', delivered directly to the Equalities Minister.
- Our revelations about an anti-trans parenting book used by readers just like you to advocate for change, seeing it removed from libraries all over the country.
Every week we help you understand the LGBTQIA+ news, so you can use the knowledge you find here, to fight back. This Pride month, we'll be asking you to take two actions every week - to help QueerAF do more of this work, and fuel activists all over the UK.
First up, we need you to sign up to our membership drive. We're off to a great start - and are 32% towards our goal of 50 new members. But we need your help to smash that target...

You can help us out directly by gifting someone you know a membership, from just £4. Or forward them this email, and tell them to sign up with the sale we're running for a limited time only.
Alongside supporting our Pride Month membership pledge (which comes with discounts to make it super accessible), we're asking you to follow us wherever you are on social media.
The more followers we have on these discovery platforms, the more we can cut through the algorithms that filter queer content – and get more people to skip doomscrolling by getting their news right here.
So give us a follow or subscribe on the social web: Bluesky, Mastadon/ActivityPub [@index@wearequeeraf.com], Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube. We'll include the links at the end of the newsletter too.
For now, let's get into this week's news.
In pride,
Jamie Wareham - QueerAF Founder
Understand the LGBTQIA+ headlines and keep track of the latest queer content and perspectives. QueerAF is written by Jamie Wareham, and a different queer creative each week.
💬 This week:
- Parliament: Can MPs stop the Code of Practice? The short answer is: yes. Is it likely to happen? That's the more complicated part - we explore the mechanics involved.
- Allison Bailey: The co-founder of the LGB Alliance has been given the right to appeal her claim against Stonewall in the Supreme Court. We look at what the case could mean.
- Stories of joy: Our lives and stories are powerful change-makers, especially when they're joyful, writes Carmilla Williamson, in our newest collaboration with Transcribe, for the Queer Gaze.
Skip the doomscrolling and support queer creatives instead. We are QueerAF – and so are you.
Can MPs overturn the EHRC Code of Practice? Nearly 100 MPs sign a motion calling for it to be disapproved
TL;DR: An early day motion calling for a code of practice which could segregate Trans+ people in public services to be disapproved is gathering support, with nearly 100 MPs across parties including Labour signing. However, it would still take a complex set of circumstances to occur for it to be stopped.
