Before we start, an update on QueerAF's Christmas and New Year plans:

Jamie here, I just wanted to wrap up the end of the year with a big thank you to all of you fab QueerAF readers, this is your last edition before our holiday break.

I also wanted to give you a heads-up.

Following my complex health moment in September, I've been called in for some follow-up surgery. I was expecting this sometime next year, so for it to be happening so soon is incredible - albeit nerve-wracking.

I found out this week, and with about four hours to decide whether to say yes - it's been a busy few days putting plans in place for the start of next year.

I'll be out of action for a few weeks - but afterwards, if all goes to plan, my body will be in a better place than it has been for 14 years. Quite the Christmas present from the NHS!

So what does that mean for the newsletter?

It means I'm going to take it real easy in January. We'll be in your inboxes every Saturday from Jan 6th as promised, but instead of the full newsletter for a couple of weeks while I recover, you'll get a slightly different weekly update with the Queer Gaze. It's our landmark scheme mentoring and commissioning marginalised creatives funded by QueerAF members – and we have some incredible stories lined up.

We plan to be back in full swing for the weekend of our 2nd birthday - Sat Jan 27th - so we can blast into LGBT+ History Month with some huge new plans. We can't wait to share them with you.

However you spend the holiday season, I hope you'll be able to get lots of rest. I'll see you in the new year, fresh, fighting fit, and ready to help you take on the world with even more Queer As F**k journalism and content from LGBTQIA+ creatives.

Thank you.

πŸ’¬ This week:

  • Badenoch. Back in Parliament, we round up her latest comments and analyse what they mean.
  • Trans Women. A thread that remembers the lives of some incredible Trans+ History makers.
  • Not Greeting The Season. The holiday period comes with lots of mixed emotions for LGBTQIA+ people. In this week's Queer Gaze Charlie Rigoni explores how they reconciled with not going home for Christmas.

Skip the doomscrolling and support queer creatives instead. We are QueerAF – and so are you.

Kemi Badenoch blames "complicated" trans inclusion for 'Conversion Therapy' Ban delay

TL;DR: Fresh off the heels of likening the rise in young trans people to an "epidemic", the 'Equalities' Minister was grilled in a Parliamentary committee this week. She said the long-promised ban on so-called 'conversion therapy' should only take place after a review into children's transgender healthcare, in case there are "interactions" between them.
